Eurovision-ist

Since I was a little girl, in our house Eurovision was a must. There has not been a year that we haven't seen it together as a family from the couch of our living room. I can also remember myself dancing to the music of  "my secret combination is a mystery for you" and the unique voice of Kalomira. In addition, when in 2009 Sakis Rouvas participated with the song "This is our night", my classmates and I used to recreate the characteristic move of the coreography from when Sakis sings "fly" , completely ignoring the fact that we could fall on our faces. As for "My Number One" , even though I was sleeping (I was three at the time) when it played live on TV, it later became My Number One!

Growing up, this event that took place every year in mid-May, turned into a ritual for me. From a family habit it became one of my passions and a field of great interest for me.

I was around 12  years old when I started searching about Eurovision on the internet, reading the eurovision news and anything else i could find about it, since three days of the year were not enough. That is when I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest. When I learned the reason Eurovision was created, what it stands for and what it aims at as a contest, that was the moment I realized that my heart will forever beat to the rhythm of Eurovision.

How can one not love a song contest that represents noble values such as fellowship, solidarity and love? How can one not love a song contest that was created for a humanitarian and important purpose, that of uniting the countries of Europe through art, specifically music, after a war that left the continent in ruins, the Second World War, with the ultimate goal of minimizing the differences and alleviating the enmity between the countries?

As you can understand, I am one of the eurofans. A eurofan who carefully studies each entry, votes after taking into consideration specific personal rules, is informed about all the latest developments, knows everything about the history of the competition and during the Eurovision nights threatens her family into complete silence, so as to be able to enjoy the perfomances. If one has to speak, he must do so for the sole purpose of singing the songs!

Yes! I'm not just a eurofan! I am Eurovision-ist! I live for Eurovision!

After all, there is no other way. My heart beats in the Eurovision rhythm!
